SOUTHERN RIDGES. LABRADOR PARK TO SENTOSA.
This walk is not as long as Trail Corridor, more urban I would say. Southern Ridges’ 10 km trail connects Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park, HortPark, Kent Ridge Park and Labrador Nature Reserve. I decided to walk from Labrador Reserve towards Sentosa via Mount Faber Park. The full trail is well documented online, so I am just making a short review for my self-diary purposes.
Getting to Labrador Nature Reserve. Just take MRT to Labrador Park station, then when you emerge at the exit A facing main road turn immediately right to the boardwalk.
In this part of the Reserve, you will be walking surrounded by mangroves.
But not for long. After probably 15 minutes you are out in the open with the views of the Singapore Strait.
The Reflections at Keppel Bay, the luxury waterfront residential complex, also catches the eye (4-5 mln. S$ for apartment).
May be comfortable inside, but I felt like straightening one of the buildings: to push it to the left with my right palm.
Apple and teatime.
A rooster talking to himself approaches me, I treat him with a piece of an apple (he looks vegetarian type). He stops talking and concentrates on the apple.
I walk towards the abundant jetty,
And then after making a circle of the park, towards the main road again.
From there signs lead me to Alexandria Arch.
Somebody was really smart to design this elevated walk above the greenery.
Soon I reach the Henderson Waves, the highest pedestrian bridge/walkway in Singapore. If you look straight, you would not think you are 36m above the ground.
Next is Mount Faber Park with super expensive cable car. Which I ignored and descended towards Harbourfront MRT station. Nearby is Sentosa boardwalk, so I checked there as well braving the heat.
Close by is Vivo shopping mall, so I went into that direction. It is getting hot and closer to 5 pm. I see what looks like a beer hall: got it, one of the Brotzeit chain dens. Well, if there is a water view and a German beer to pair it with, I normally try not to resist hard…
Prosit! I deserved my beer!
