I always appreciate the unusual, unique, sometimes strange behaviour which is acceptable, but non-conforming. Night swims, no breakfast, eating lemon, different colour of socks, standing on one leg on a train, welcoming the snow by rubbing it on your skin or snow bathing, President living in a modest shack (Jose Mujica, Uruguay president 2010-2015) . Whatever you enjoy! It is liberating, it shows you can appreciate life and play with its seemingly unbending rules. It shows you can CONTROL your life.
Especially it makes sense in a very conformist Japan. All doing same, wearing same… When I first came to Japan I saw a gentleman in a rather nice suit wearing white socks. I thought “Oh, he is from my tribe!” Only later to realize that there is this common twist of a taste here.
Anyway, I will give one suggestion for unusual “sightseeing”. There is a Dream Bridge in Odaiba area of Tokyo. Go there in the evening, make a wish, and quietly lie down in the middle of the bridge for a while. Don’t make noise. Your wish may come true !

Unusually yours in travel,
