Thank you. Forgot already, but need to check what has triggered the attack.

Sorry to hear of your recent troubles, hope you are fully recovered now. The luxury train trip sounds great though like you I have never taken one before. I did the less-luxurious version from Bangkok to Singapore a while back and that was a wonderful adventure - cheers !

Thank you. As long as there is a space to gaze through - ideally open window or deck - I’m in for any train travel.

When I visit Tokyo I often stay in the Shinagawa-Mita area and do morning jogs around the same area you walked. A lot of the time you can run on pedestrian paths that are river/sea side with no traffic at all and in quite a few places the path continues under the road bridges connecting the various islands.

BTW it often surprises me how relatively close places are that are on radically different rail/subway/monorail lines. Tennozu Isle is a great example. It's maybe 1km from Shinagawa station but the monorail takes you all the way to Hamamatsucho instead

Definitely one of the best Tokyo urban areas for activities like yoga or running. Another would be runs along Sumida river or Arakawa.

By the way, there is Tennozu Isle monorail station near Tokyo Seafort Daiichi hotel. Hotel is old , but I like the location, so stayed a few times when on business trip (before I moved to Japan from Sydney)

Totally agree about the Sumidagawa. Stayed not far from the skytree early this year and did the Asakusa area run. You get some wonderful reflections of the Golden Turd in the morning sun as you run along the riverside there.

Going back to the Shinagawa area. It's a quick hop over the Takanawa hill to Meguro and then you can run down the Megurogawa all the way to the sea. Strongly recommended as a route when the cherry blossoms are out on the trees along the river

I know Shomyoji. Been there twice. I usually follow the road straight to the sea and walk along the beach before heading back to the station.

As for Tennozu Isle, maybe we can compare it to Copenhagen (though I've never been there). But Venice? Definitely not.

I see. Never been in Venice, it was more like creating analogy for “the town with canals”, but “objection noted “ and agreed with (:
